• My subscription for Equifax Protect is nearing the 12-month expiry date. What do I need to do?

  For now, there's nothing that you need to do. Equifax codes that were due to expire between September 2023 to February 2024 have been extended to March 2024. Equifax will let you know when your complimentary subscription is ending at least 30 days in advance, and you will be provided further information at that point.

• I’ve noticed my subscription has continued beyond the 12-month period. Why is Equifax extending my complimentary Equifax Protect subscription?

  Equifax is working on some enhancements to the Equifax Protect service. Subscriptions that were due to expire between September 2023 to February 2024 have been extended to March 2024, at no cost, so you have an opportunity to experience these new features and extra benefits before your subscription ends.

  Subscriptions will start to end from March 2024.

• Will Equifax charge me for my Equifax Protect subscription once it passes the initial 12 months?

  No, there will be no charge for your subscription to Equifax Protect during this complimentary extension period. Equifax will let you know when your complimentary subscription is ending at least 30 days in advance and you will be provided further information at that point.

• What if I want to continue my subscription after the complimentary subscription ends and pay for it myself?

  Until you have been notified by Equifax of the cancellation date of your complimentary Equifax Protect subscription, there is no need to pay for your own subscription. If you sign up to a new paid monthly Equifax subscription now, your complimentary subscription will be cancelled and replaced by your paid subscription.

• Can I upgrade or sign up to an Equifax Identity Protect/Equifax Credit Protect/Equifax Credit & Identity Protect membership from my existing Equifax Protect membership portal?

  Yes, once you’ve been notified by Equifax of the cancellation date, you can subscribe to one of their monthly subscription services through your existing Equifax account. Once signed in, go to the “Upgrade” to activate one of those subscription options.

• I signed up for an Equifax subscription before I received my code from Optus. How can I get my free Equifax Protect subscription?

  You should cancel your existing Equifax subscription to avoid future charges. Click here for details on how to cancel.

  You must register again as a new customer to Equifax Protect using a DIFFERENT email address. Simply click the "Subscribe now" link above to get started and enter your unique code from Optus during the registration process. Please note: our system will not allow you to create a new account using the same email address used during your initial account registration.

• I have an existing Equifax account, where do I enter the code to get my complimentary subscription?

  If you are already an Equifax customer with an existing account, you will need to re-register for Equifax Protect using a DIFFERENT email address. Our system will not allow you to create another account using the same email address you originally signed up with. Simply click the "Subscribe now" link above to re-register, and enter your unique code from Optus during the registration process.

• I have requested a replacement driver licence. Can I still sign up for Equifax Protect?

  Optus customers affected have been notified by Optus of the specific information compromised and the necessary remediation activities required.

  Re-issuing a new driver licence number may take several weeks. If you wish to sign up for Equifax Protect but you have not yet received your replacement driver licence and card number (for applicable states), you can still complete the registration process using alternative forms of identification, e.g. Passport and Medicare.

  Once your Equifax Protect subscription is activated, we recommend entering your current driver licence details into the portal to activate your identity monitoring. This will alert you if your information is discovered on the dark web. When your new driver licence is issued, you should update those document details in your Equifax Protect portal to ensure your identity monitoring is up to date.
