Get started

Before you commence

Keep reading to find out how to complete the Police Check online, including what information to have on hand. It's FREE to complete.

  1. The ‘Get started’ button above sends you to a fit2work login page, where you will be asked to input your username and temporary password. These were sent to you in an email by Equifax fit2work. Please check your inbox and junk folder. You should receive a link to your Fit2Work check within 2 business days of being onboarded.
  2. Complete your details, including alias or previous names and previous addresses for the past five years.
  3. Upload a photo of yourself in a ‘selfie format’ by holding your photo ID next to your face (see FAQs).
  4. Choose four (4) copies of identity documents to upload. At least one (1) document will have to be verified through our electronic ID verification. If none of your documents can be verified you will be prompted to upload a certified copy of one (1) of your photo IDs. If you have changed your name and your documents are in both your current and previous name you will need to supply a copy of your change of name document issued by Births, Deaths and Marriages or Deed Poll, in addition to the four documents (see ID Requirements Guidelines).
  5. Review the information you have provided to ensure the details are correct.
  6. Give your consent to sharing the information with Equifax fit2work and the ACIC (Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission) to conduct the Police Check. You will be asked for your electronic signature (see FAQs).
  7. Click ‘Submit Check’ to receive a ‘Completion’ message. In some circumstances, Equifax fit2work will reach out to you via email, SMS or phone call for additional information. This may occur in the days following your online fit2work submission.

If you have a criminal record, a result report is returned to us detailing any relevant court convictions.

Your police record data will be destroyed after 12 months as per ACIC requirements.

ACIC requires you to provide four documents from 3 categories, as below:

In all instances, the combination of identity documents must contain at minimum your full name, date of birth and a photograph.

You can view the ID Requirements Guidelines for a detailed list of acceptable documents.

You will be asked to take a photo of yourself holding one of the photo IDs you will be uploading. The details on your photo ID will have to be clearly visible.

You can upload a pre-taken ‘selfie’. Alternatively, we can send a link to your mobile (choose ‘send link to my phone’) so that you can take a ‘selfie’ and upload it from your mobile.

You can sign by using your finger on a smartphone or tablet, or your mouse on a computer.

How long does it take to process a Police Check?

On average your Police Check will be processed in one (1) business day by Equifax fit2work, and the result can be returned in a few hours in most cases. However, it can take longer for reasons including having a common name or a potential police record.

The check may take longer to process if there are missing or inconsistent details within the application. If there is any lost, illegible or unclear uploaded information, Equifax fit2work will contact you

What will a police check contain?
