Overview

The National Catastrophe and ESG Dataset (NCED) provides entity-level climate risk mapping for Australian businesses. It delivers the data required to meet regulatory requirements under AASB S2 Climate-related Disclosures, alongside the insights needed for operational decision-making and risk management.

Going beyond emissions, this comprehensive ESG dataset covers the entire Australian market to help organisations streamline AASB S2 reporting. Developed in partnership with mnAI and delivered by Equifax, the structured, aggregated data and proprietary algorithms include:

  • Data on all active Australian companies, not just the ASX
  • Information updated monthly, aligned to APRA and International Sustainability Standard Board (ISSB) standards
  • Key ESG metrics covering emissions, climate/peril risk, governance, diversity and impact.

The ESG Dataset aims to help you bridge the gap between meeting your climate-related financial disclosure requirements and the operational necessity of embedding climate risk data into corporate strategy.

Auditable climate data for Australian companies

As at FY25, only 10% of the ASX reported any form of emissions or sustainability plans1, yet there are millions of active companies across Australia. This creates a significant gap for risk modelling and compliance. In addition, data used for annual sustainability reporting is often subjective and manually collected, leading to unreliable metrics that are difficult to track over time.

The ESG Dataset aims to resolve this challenge by producing audit-defensible sustainability reports that meet the regulatory need for AASB S2 Climate-related Disclosures. Through a national entity-level dataset, you can access cleansed and structured data that provides the granular detail needed to confidently address regulatory changes with:

  • Compliant, auditable climate risk data
  • The ability to track climate exposure and sector risk over time
  • Tools to measure concentration of risk across portfolios.
  • Covering all active Australian companies (5M+ entities2), the ESG Dataset serves as a powerful Scope 3 emissions database. It includes granular, reliable private company data to enable automated Scope 3 reporting for ASX-listed companies.

From Compliance to climate-informed strategy

The ESG Dataset provides the clarity required to understand both climate risks and commercial opportunities. This includes modelling and analysis for physical and transition risks, climate resilience, target setting and transition planning.

Use our climate risk data to enhance your risk and compliance models - including ESG-informed lending decisions - support your board in monitoring ESG portfolio risk, boost supply chain resilience, and benchmark portfolios to help mitigate risk and discover new opportunities.
