    Identity theft is rising2. Traditional, commonly used electronic verification solutions help to satisfy compliance obligations by validating that the information on the ID document is genuine. However, a match can still turn out to be identity fraud if the user completing the verification is not the same person in the identity documents.

    ID document forgeries have become sophisticated enough to pass human inspection, and fraudsters have found ways to bypass these manual processes when there are no additional layers of security.

    Equifax Biometrics uses multiple layers of verification to assess whether the user presenting the identity is a real person with genuine ID documents. Our facial biometric matching and liveness detection leads the industry with a match error rate of 0.63% and 100% success in detecting presentation attacks. Our Document Fraud Assessment capability analyses thousands of data points to determine that the ID document has not been tampered with and is indeed a genuine original ID document. We save our clients an estimated $4.3M in fraud losses per month, which equates to stopping an average of 2,160 fraudulent ID documents over this time.

  • Spot fraudsters with liveness detection

    Equifax Biometrics uses a combination of both passive and active liveness testing to prove that the user taking the live video selfie is a real person. Fraudsters can pretend to be another person through video injection, photos, masks, deep fakes or other forms of presentation attack.

    We are one of only a few organisations worldwide to achieve 100% success at Level 1 and Level 2 of iBeta's test against fraudulent attacks in compliance with the ISO 30107-3 standard for liveness detection.

  • Get comprehensive data verification

    For another layer of protection, you have the option for Equifax Biometrics to integrate with your IDMatrix account. IDMatrix is one of Australia's most comprehensive electronic verification solution to help verify identity and detect fraud.

    Connecting your IDMatrix account to your biometrics workflow will give you access to Equifax proprietary and third party data sources to perform a variety of additional identity, and Fraud Assessment searches required to support your compliance or fraud risk needs.

    Customer consent is built into the workflow. When your customer is asked to validate that the extracted data from their ID document is correct, their consent is also requested for the data to be used for further verification searches.

    In addition, the structured data from your customer's ID document can be configured to verify the document automatically against the Document Verification Service (DVS) via your IDMatrix account.

Our biometrics security and privacy framework is independently audited annually to ensure continued compliance.

    All data is encrypted end-to-end using AES 256+ both in transit and at rest, and no data is transferred or processed outside Australia.

    At all times, you have complete control of user access, roles and permissions, and the ability to redact personally identifiable information or delete records manually/automatically. Data retention policies are customisable to your internal data policy and requirements.

    Although our solution is designed to limit human interactions, you may wish to review your verifications in more detail or take further assessments against verifications that have not met the requirements to pass through automatically.

    We provide a biometrics portal with a case management tool to help you review and assess the applicant's verification. You will have a detailed view of the document images, selfies, verification data, risk outcomes, and alerts. With the right permission, you'll be able to correct any data errors and resubmit the verification to IDMatrix or manually override the verification status if deemed necessary.

  • Integrate with ease

    There are several ways to integrate Equifax Biometrics. The two most common are using our simple and concise REST API or the stand-alone biometrics portal.

    Our API allows you to either include the workflow within your customer onboarding process or automatically trigger it at the right time, returning the full data payload and appropriate webhooks to communicate with your existing internal systems.

    The stand-alone biometrics portal is provided as a standard part of the solution. The portal contains a case management tool and reporting functions, plus modules that allow you to generate new verifications and manage user permissions.
